STRABAG Property and Facility Services GmbH, the Austrian construction and facility management company, has secured regulatory clearance to acquire 100% of the shares in two Romanian technical installation companies, Brenneka Install SRL and Samivo Instal SRL. The acquisition marks a significant expansion of the group’s Building Solutions division across Southeast Europe.
Romania’s Competition Council issued the necessary approval for the transaction, clearing the way for STRABAG to integrate the two firms into its existing operations. The move represents a strategic push by the Austrian conglomerate to strengthen its presence in the Romanian market, one of Central Europe’s most active construction and facility services sectors.
Market Consolidation in Southeast Europe
The two acquired companies generated approximately €25.5 million in combined revenue during 2025 and currently employ more than 230 staff members. Both Brenneka Install and Samivo Instal specialise in technical installation services, a sector that has seen growing demand across Eastern European markets as infrastructure development and facility modernisation projects accelerate.
The acquisition enables STRABAG to consolidate technical expertise and workforce capacity in Romania while expanding its service offerings to existing and prospective clients in the region. By absorbing these established local players, the Austrian group gains access to existing customer relationships and established operational networks that would take considerably longer to develop independently.
Building Solutions Strategy
STRABAG’s Building Solutions division has been progressively expanding its footprint in Southeast Europe over recent years through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Romania represents a particularly significant market given its robust construction activity and the increasing importance of facility management services across commercial, industrial, and residential segments.
The regulatory approval process, handled by Romania’s Competition Council, concluded without reported obstacles, suggesting the acquisition raised no significant competition concerns from authorities. The transaction amount was not publicly disclosed by either party.
This acquisition aligns with broader industry trends in which larger, established construction and facility services groups consolidate smaller regional operators to achieve scale economies and enhance their competitive positioning. Technical installation services—encompassing electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and related infrastructure—represent a stable, recurring revenue stream that complements STRABAG’s traditional construction activities.
European Consolidation Continues
The deal illustrates the ongoing consolidation within Europe’s construction and facility services sector, where multinational groups increasingly pursue acquisitions in emerging markets to diversify revenue streams and reduce exposure to mature Western European markets. Romanian companies in the technical services space have become particularly attractive acquisition targets for larger European players seeking cost-efficient operations combined with skilled labour availability.
For STRABAG, the expansion reinforces its position as a comprehensive provider of integrated construction and facility management solutions across Central and Southeast Europe, addressing the growing market demand for professional, quality-assured technical services from clients seeking reliable long-term partnerships.
