Replit, a San Francisco-based AI coding platform founded in 2014, has announced the opening of its first international office in London’s King’s Cross district. The move marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to expand beyond Silicon Valley and establish a stronger presence in Europe.
The startup has already hired 20 staff members at the London location and intends to scale the team substantially over the coming months. According to the company, it is targeting up to 100 employees at the European hub by early 2025, positioning the office as a central point for operations across the continent.

The London expansion follows Replit’s recent $400 million funding round in March, which brought the company’s total funding to $400 million. The round was led by Databricks Ventures, with participation from Okta Ventures, basketball icon Shaquille O’Neal, and Y Combinator, the influential startup accelerator where Replit participated as part of its founding journey.
The substantial capital infusion has provided Replit with resources to pursue its international growth ambitions while maintaining product development and innovation efforts.

“I love San Francisco. Silicon Valley is obviously a place that has given me a lot. But there is one major downside—it’s a bit of a monoculture,” Masad stated. “When I come to London, I meet artists, I meet people in finance, I meet filmmakers. It’s really amazing how diverse the community is here,” he continued.
