NEURA Robotics, the German robotics unicorn based in Metzingen, has announced a strategic partnership with Austrian deep-tech company NXAI to integrate advanced memory capabilities into its robotic systems. The collaboration will see NXAI’s xLSTM memory model incorporated into NEURA’s Physical AI stack and made available through the Neuraverse platform, enabling joint research initiatives and expanded model options for developers working with cognitive robots.
The partnership represents a convergence of European artificial intelligence expertise, combining NEURA’s established robotics infrastructure with NXAI’s specialized memory architecture. By incorporating the xLSTM model—developed by NXAI co-founder Sepp Hochreiter—NEURA aims to enhance the cognitive capabilities of robots deployed in both industrial and everyday environments.
Strengthening Robotic Memory Systems
Memory functionality has emerged as a critical component for next-generation robots operating in complex, real-world scenarios. Traditional robotic systems often lack the ability to retain and learn from interactions over extended periods. This partnership directly addresses that limitation by embedding memory-capable AI models into NEURA’s existing platform infrastructure.
The integration will be accessible through Neuraverse, NEURA’s platform ecosystem designed to facilitate the development and deployment of advanced robotic solutions. The arrangement allows developers and researchers to leverage multiple AI approaches within a unified environment, accelerating innovation in the physical AI sector.
“A robot that truly helps in everyday life and in industry must be able to remember. With Neuron AI, we have the foundation. With Neuraverse, we are creating the platform on which other powerful AI approaches can also find their way into robots,” said David Reger, Founder and CEO of NEURA Robotics. “Together with Sepp Hochreiter and NXAI, we are expanding this memory capability. Two European strengths, one goal: Physical AI from Europe, together for the world.”
European AI Ecosystem Advancement
NEURA Robotics has established itself as a significant player in the European robotics landscape since its founding in 2019. The company achieved unicorn status with €1.2 billion in total funding, including a Series C round announced in June 2026, positioning it among Europe’s most well-capitalized robotics ventures.
This partnership underscores a broader trend within the European startup ecosystem: the consolidation and strategic alignment of AI and robotics companies to compete globally. Rather than operating in isolation, leading European deep-tech firms are increasingly collaborating to integrate complementary technologies and capabilities.
The collaboration between NEURA and NXAI demonstrates how European companies are constructing a robust physical AI infrastructure. By combining NEURA’s robotics expertise with NXAI’s advanced AI architecture, the partnership creates a more competitive offering for organizations seeking sophisticated autonomous systems with genuine learning and memory capabilities.
The integration of memory-capable models into robotic systems represents a meaningful step toward robots that can genuinely adapt to their environments and operators. As European robotics and AI companies continue forming strategic alliances, the region strengthens its position in the global race to develop practical, deployable artificial intelligence solutions for industrial and consumer applications.
