Efferon, a biotech company developing hemoadsorption devices for treating sepsis and septic shock, has secured €2.5 million in seed funding led by private investors from the DACH region. The company will use funds to build a new EU production facility and expand manufacturing capacity. Efferon’s products include Efferon LPS for general use and Efferon NEO for pediatric patients, with the latter recently receiving CE MDR certification. The technology has been used in over 25,000 treatments across 40+ countries.
Imperagen, a Manchester-based biotech company using AI and quantum physics to engineer enzymes, raised €5.7 million in Seed funding led by PXN Ventures. The company combines quantum physics simulation, AI model training, and automated robotics in a closed-loop system to improve enzyme designs. It brings total funding to €9.8 million and announced Guy Levy-Yurista as new CEO. The company plans to expand R&D, scale wet lab capabilities, and grow its go-to-market function.
NanoCo AI has raised $12 million in seed funding to commercialize NanoClaw, an open source enterprise-friendly AI agent harness. The company aims to provide enterprises with secure, one-to-one ‘professional assistant’ AI agents for each employee that build personalized knowledge graphs and execute tasks within sandboxed Docker environments. NanoClaw remains MIT Licensed open source while NanoCo AI offers managed commercial services.
Qurie, a Freiburg-based startup, secured €2.2 million in funding to develop next-generation electrocaloric cooling systems that operate without compressors, refrigerants or pressure build-up. The technology is more efficient and sustainable than traditional refrigeration systems, with theoretical efficiency over 80% compared to 50% for traditional compressors.
Atlo, a Copenhagen-based AI-powered wholesale platform, has secured investment from prominent Scandinavian retail-tech entrepreneurs. The platform aims to digitalize wholesale ordering for interior design and lifestyle brands by automating workflows, predicting reorder needs, and providing real-time performance data. Founded by Casper Brix, former Head of Purchasing at AndLight, the platform targets an industry still operating primarily through emails and spreadsheets.

Lake Como Venture Lab is a new accelerator program launched in Lecco, Italy, focused on deeptech startups in mechatronics and medtech. The program is coordinated by Confindustria Lecco and Sondrio in partnership with Politecnico di Milano and supported by the Chamber of Commerce Como-Lecco. The program is free and equity-free, offering 12 months of housing, laboratory access, scientific mentorship, business training, and direct access to the industrial ecosystem.
