Digiclean, a Swedish deeptech company developing artificial intelligence and sensor-based solutions for industrial cleaning optimization, has raised €2.5 million in a seed funding round. The capital will support product development and commercial expansion across Sweden and key European industrial markets.
The funding round was led by Unconventional Ventures and Almi Invest GreenTech, with participation from S-E Bankens Utvecklingsstiftelse, Impact Shakers, and Feminvest Ventures. This diverse investor base reflects growing interest in technologies that address industrial efficiency and sustainability challenges simultaneously.
Automating Industrial Cleaning Operations
Digiclean’s platform targets a fundamental but often overlooked aspect of industrial operations: cleaning processes. The company has developed technology that uses real-time data collection and artificial intelligence to automate chemical dosing, reduce waste generation, and improve regulatory compliance across manufacturing facilities.
The solution has already demonstrated practical viability, with deployment across more than 20 sites in Sweden. This installed base provides the company with valuable operational data and customer relationships as it prepares to scale internationally.
CEO and co-founder Charlotte Stigen Låstberg outlined the company’s vision for broader industrial transformation. “We are building the tools needed to make it measurable, optimisable and aligned with modern efficiency and sustainability requirements. With the support of Unconventional Ventures and Almi Invest GreenTech, we can accelerate this transition across industries,” she stated.
Addressing Industrial Sector Demands
The industrial cleaning sector represents a significant opportunity for optimization. Manufacturing facilities face mounting pressure to reduce chemical consumption, minimize environmental impact, and maintain precise compliance with increasingly stringent regulations. Digiclean’s approach addresses these pressures by providing data-driven insights that improve operational efficiency while reducing resource consumption.
The automation of chemical dosing through sensor-based monitoring can substantially lower costs associated with excessive chemical usage while simultaneously improving worker safety and environmental outcomes. These multiple benefits position the technology as relevant to manufacturers across diverse sectors seeking to modernize their operations.
The fresh capital enables Digiclean to accelerate development of its core platform capabilities and establish commercial operations in additional European markets. The company’s strategy reflects recognition that industrial automation solutions tailored to specific operational challenges can achieve meaningful adoption across continental Europe.
European Deeptech Momentum
Digiclean’s funding round exemplifies continued investor confidence in European deeptech companies addressing industrial challenges. Swedish venture investors, particularly those focused on greentech and sustainability outcomes, have demonstrated active interest in technologies that improve industrial processes while reducing environmental footprints. The participation of impact-focused investors alongside traditional venture firms underscores how industrial optimization increasingly aligns with environmental and social objectives.
The funding positions Digiclean to compete in a growing segment of European industrial software and automation solutions, where Swedish and Nordic companies have established particular strength in delivering solutions that combine technological sophistication with practical manufacturing applications.
