CautAjutor.ro, a new Romanian digital marketplace, has entered the skilled trades sector with a model designed to address longstanding friction between consumers seeking home services and the tradespeople who provide them.
The platform, developed by MSM APPS SRL and launched in September 2026, operates as a commission-free marketplace where customers can find plumbers, electricians, painters, movers, and other local service providers across Romania. The service allows consumers to describe a job once and receive multiple competitive offers, while tradespeople register for free and pay only when a potential customer engages with their bid.
Adrian Marin, the Bucharest-based entrepreneur behind the initiative, framed the platform as a response to inefficiencies plaguing both sides of the skilled trades market. “I started from a problem that everyone has: it’s hard to find a good tradesperson, and good tradespeople waste time and money on clients who never respond,” Marin explained. “I wanted a fair platform for both parties: free for those seeking help, and the tradesperson only pays when the client actually looks at his offer.”
A Two-Sided Problem
The traditional process of hiring tradespeople in Romania typically involves word-of-mouth referrals, phone calls to multiple providers, and significant uncertainty about pricing and reliability. For established service providers, much of their time goes toward handling inquiries from customers who ultimately hire competitors or decide against pursuing the work altogether. This dynamic creates high customer acquisition costs and unpredictable revenue streams.
CautAjutor.ro’s approach aims to streamline both processes. By consolidating customer requests on a single platform, the service reduces the time tradespeople spend on lead generation. The pay-per-engagement model means service providers only invest effort in qualified prospects—those who have already reviewed their offers and shown genuine interest.
Market Context
The skilled trades sector has historically resisted digitalization across much of Europe, with many markets remaining largely fragmented and dependent on local networks. However, several startups across the continent have begun building platforms to modernize this space. The success of such services often hinges on achieving balanced growth across both customer and service provider bases while maintaining trust and service quality.
Romania’s construction and home services market represents a significant opportunity, with rapid urbanization and a growing class of property owners seeking reliable contractors. The country’s digital infrastructure has matured substantially in recent years, supporting the emergence of location-based service platforms.
CautAjutor.ro’s launch reflects broader European trends toward marketplace platforms that reduce intermediation costs and create transparency in traditionally opaque service industries. As the platform scales across Romania, it will likely face competition from both local entrants and international players seeking to establish footholds in Eastern European markets.
