Sigvi, a Lithuanian startup automating car rental operations for independent fleet operators, has raised €1.2 million ($1.3 million) in pre-seed funding to accelerate product development and expand its presence across Europe.
The round was led by Superhero Capital, with additional participation from angel investor Vladas Lašas. The funding will support the enhancement of Sigvi’s artificial intelligence-driven rental technology and the growth of its managed vehicle network, which already operates over 200 vehicles following its recent market entry into Poland.
Bridging the Gap in Car Rental
The startup addresses a structural inefficiency in Europe’s car rental market. While travel demand continues to rise, thousands of quality vehicles owned by independent operators remain underutilized due to the absence of digital tools to connect them with customers seeking short-term rentals.
Vytis Šliažas, founder of Sigvi, commented on the market opportunity: “Europe is travelling more than ever, but the car rental experience hasn’t evolved at the same pace. Travellers expect to book a car as easily as they book accommodation. Meanwhile, thousands of quality vehicles owned by independent operators sit idle because they lack the technology to reach those customers. We’re building the AI layer that connects both sides, unlocking cheaper, greener, and fully digital car rental.”
Growth Strategy
The capital injection arrives as Sigvi transitions from its initial launch phase into a scaling period. The company’s platform automates key rental operations, reducing friction for independent operators who traditionally lack the technological infrastructure of established car rental companies. By automating aspects of the rental process through artificial intelligence, Sigvi enables smaller operators to compete more effectively in a digitized marketplace.
The startup’s expansion plans focus on establishing presence in additional European markets beyond its current foothold in Poland. The company intends to leverage the new funding to enhance its core technology platform while simultaneously growing the network of vehicles available through its system.
European Mobility Innovation
Sigvi’s funding success reflects growing investor interest in solving operational challenges within Europe’s transportation and mobility sectors. The pre-seed backing demonstrates confidence in the startup’s approach to automating fleet management for a fragmented market segment that has historically been overlooked by major technology platforms.
The car rental industry across Europe has experienced gradual digital transformation in recent years, with independent operators increasingly seeking technology solutions to streamline operations and reach broader audiences. Sigvi positions itself as a solution for this emerging need, combining automation with network effects to create value for both vehicle owners and renters.
As European startups continue developing solutions for established industries undergoing digital transitions, Sigvi’s funding round exemplifies investor appetite for ventures addressing inefficiencies within traditional sectors. The company’s success in Poland and plans for continued expansion will provide insight into the scalability of its model across diverse European markets.
