Italian Startup Studio IH1 Closes First Fundraising Round With €10 Million

IH1, the holding company behind the Mamazen startup studio, has successfully concluded its initial fundraising cycle by securing €10 million in fresh capital. The funding round included participation from investors such as Upper Hand, Italian Angels for Growth, and several prominent business figures including Michela Colli, Gabriele Fonsato, Daniela Castegnaro, Nicola Junior Vitto, Fausto Dassenno, Renato Dalla Riva, and Paolo Dalla Riva.

This latest injection represents a significant milestone for the Italian venture-building platform, which has now accumulated substantial backing through multiple funding phases. Previous capital injections of €5 million and €6.3 million preceded this announcement, establishing a solid financial foundation for the next phase of operations.

Shifting Focus to AI-Driven Growth

The freshly secured capital will support IH1’s transition toward an artificial intelligence-oriented venture-building methodology. The company plans to allocate resources toward creating a portfolio of AI-native service companies that leverage shared infrastructure, technology platforms, and proprietary AI tools across portfolio startups. This approach represents a deliberate strategic pivot toward meeting the technology needs of Italian small and medium-sized enterprises in the B2B space.

Francesco Cardoletti, associated with the initiative, articulated the significance of reaching this funding milestone: “Reaching €10 million in funding means closing a first chapter and, above all, having the foundation to embark on a different growth phase driven by ambition and scale. We are working on an AI‑oriented method that allows young companies to grow sustainably over time, shortening validation, launch and fundraising cycles. With a team capable of supporting an increasing number of initiatives, with ever‑more vertical expertise in specific markets.”

Ambitious Five-Year Targets

IH1’s leadership has established ambitious objectives for the coming years, targeting the creation of a portfolio valued at over €200 million within a five-year timeframe. The venture-building model being developed aims to compress traditional startup development cycles by providing young companies with accelerated validation, market launch support, and streamlined access to fundraising resources.

The holding company has signaled openness to additional capital injections, indicating that this fundraising round, while substantial, does not necessarily represent the final external funding the organization will seek. This approach suggests management confidence in the scalability of its AI-focused venture-building approach while maintaining flexibility for future expansion opportunities.

European Context

The development reflects broader trends within the European startup ecosystem, where established venture-building platforms and studio models have increasingly incorporated artificial intelligence capabilities into their operational frameworks. Italy, traditionally underrepresented in European venture capital flows, continues to attract investor interest through specialized vehicles like IH1 that target specific market segments and technology domains. The emphasis on serving Italian SMEs with AI-native solutions addresses a recognized gap in technology adoption among European mid-market companies.
