Cori Clinical, an Amsterdam-based artificial intelligence startup focused on streamlining clinical trial design, has secured $4 million in seed funding to scale its operations and enhance its platform capabilities.
The round was led by Breega, with participation from Enzo, Heartfelt, Together Ventures, and Bynd. The company plans to deploy the capital across multiple strategic areas, including expanding delivery capacity, growing its team, deepening regulatory and clinical intelligence within the platform, and establishing stronger commercial relationships with contract research organizations (CROs) and pharmaceutical companies.
Addressing Trial Delays Through Intelligent Design
Clinical trials represent a critical stage in drug development, yet the process frequently encounters delays that extend timelines and increase costs for pharmaceutical firms. Cori Clinical’s platform addresses this challenge by creating what the company describes as a “living blueprint” for trial design—a dynamic framework that consolidates complex regulatory, clinical, and operational intelligence in one accessible system.
According to co-founder Jorn Jansen Schoonhoven, “Cori brings that intelligence together into a living blueprint, so teams can make better-informed decisions before avoidable problems become delays, so the science never waits on the process.” This approach enables clinical research teams to anticipate potential issues and optimize trial structures before implementation, potentially reducing costly setbacks.
Scaling Commercial Ambitions
Beyond product development, Cori Clinical intends to expand its footprint within the pharmaceutical ecosystem. The funding will support efforts to establish deeper partnerships with major CROs and pharmaceutical companies, sectors that routinely manage hundreds of trials simultaneously and operate under intense pressure to deliver results efficiently.
The company’s focus on regulatory intelligence represents a particularly valuable component of its offering. Navigating the complex, often varying regulatory requirements across different jurisdictions remains a significant source of trial delays. By embedding this knowledge directly into its platform, Cori Clinical positions itself as a tool that can materially improve decision-making timelines.
European Innovation in Healthtech
Cori Clinical’s seed round reflects the continued momentum in European healthtech innovation, particularly in areas where artificial intelligence can solve tangible operational problems for regulated industries. The involvement of multiple established European venture firms—Breega, Together Ventures, and others—signals confidence in both the company’s execution potential and the broader market opportunity in clinical trial optimization.
The Netherlands has established itself as a hub for healthtech innovation, with Amsterdam serving as home to numerous biotech and medtech companies. Cori Clinical’s funding success adds to a growing body of evidence that European investors are increasingly willing to back AI-driven solutions targeting healthcare efficiency challenges, where regulatory tailwinds and clear return-on-investment metrics attract institutional capital.
