Spott, a Belgian recruitment technology startup, has secured €18.3 million in Series A funding to accelerate its expansion across North America and Asia-Pacific regions. The round was led by Balderton Capital, with participation from Base10 Partners, Y Combinator, and Fortino.
Based in Leuven, Spott has developed an AI-native applicant tracking system and customer relationship management platform purpose-built for recruitment agencies. The company, which was founded in 2024, has already demonstrated significant traction in its early stages, achieving a tenfold increase in revenue and serving hundreds of agencies across Europe, the US, and APAC.
The fresh capital will support multiple strategic priorities for the startup. The funding will enable expansion into the United States and Asia-Pacific markets, where the company aims to establish offices in New York and Sydney. Additionally, Spott plans to invest in developing new enterprise-grade features and expanding its engineering team to accelerate product innovation.
Addressing a Market Gap
Phil Chambers, Partner at Balderton Capital, highlighted the founders’ unique perspective on the problems facing recruitment agencies. “Lander, Manu and Samuel understood this overlooked problem because they had seen its operational and commercial impact first-hand,” Chambers said. “They have combined that insight with the technical ambition to rebuild recruitment’s core infrastructure and the speed at which customers are adopting Spott shows they have built the solution this market has been waiting for.”
The investment reflects growing recognition that legacy recruitment technology stacks struggle to meet the needs of modern agencies operating at scale. Spott’s AI-native approach positions the platform as a modernized alternative to outdated systems that have long dominated the sector.
Growing Market Momentum
The startup’s rapid adoption suggests strong product-market fit among recruitment agencies seeking to streamline operations and improve hiring outcomes. With the ability to attract both venture-backed investors and participation from Y Combinator’s network, Spott has validated its business model during its inaugural year of operation.
The €18.3 million Series A brings the company’s total funding to €21.1 million, providing substantial resources to execute its expansion strategy. The support from established European venture capital alongside US-based investors indicates confidence in Spott’s ability to compete in global markets.
European Startup Context
The funding round underscores the continued strength of European deep-tech and B2B software startups attracting major institutional backing. Belgium, while smaller than startup hubs like France and Germany, has emerged as a source of innovative enterprise software companies. Spott’s rapid scaling from foundation to Series A within its first year demonstrates the quality of technical talent available in the region and the capacity of European entrepreneurs to build globally competitive solutions addressing genuine market inefficiencies.
