Whispp, a Leiden-based artificial intelligence company, has closed a €5 million Series A funding round led by LUMO Labs, with support from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator and strategic angel investors. The investment marks a significant milestone for the startup, bringing its total funding to €8.25 million since its founding in 2020.
The Dutch company specializes in on-device voice reconstruction technology that converts whispered speech into natural-sounding audio. This innovation addresses dual applications: enabling private communication where ambient noise would otherwise interfere with standard speech recognition, and improving accessibility for individuals with voice impairments or conditions affecting vocal output.
Strategic Focus on Device Integration
Whispp plans to deploy the fresh capital across multiple strategic initiatives. The company will prioritize developing additional intellectual property through patent filings, refining its proprietary artificial intelligence models, and creating new product offerings. Beyond internal development, the startup intends to strengthen its organizational capabilities by expanding its management team and building partnerships with original equipment manufacturers and semiconductor companies.
