UK Healthtech Startup Stride Raises £4.6 Million to Expand Preventative Health Platform

Stride, a United Kingdom-based healthtech startup, has secured £4.6 million ($5.8 million) in seed funding to accelerate the development of its diagnostics-driven preventative health platform and support its international expansion plans.

The funding round was led by a consortium of investors including Arāya Ventures, Morgan Stanley Inclusive & Sustainable Ventures, Better Ventures, Innovate UK, and an a16z Scout Fund investor. The capital injection marks a significant milestone for the early-stage company, which was founded in 2024.

Expanding Beyond Testing

Stride’s platform combines DNA, blood, and gut-testing analysis with artificial intelligence to deliver personalised health insights to users. The company plans to deploy the fresh capital toward several key objectives, including developing its predictive and personalised health platform, building out its AI-powered health copilot, and conducting research into multi-omic biological age analysis.

The funding will also support the international rollout of Stride One, the company’s membership offering, with plans to expand beyond the UK market by the end of 2026. This timeline reflects the company’s ambition to scale its preventative health approach across European and potentially global markets.

Making Prevention Engaging

Andrew Steele, speaking about the platform’s mission, emphasised the transformative potential of preventative healthcare when properly executed. “Preventative health can sometimes sound boring or worthy, when actually it could be one of the most transformative opportunities of our generation,” Steele said. “If we can make better health exciting, aspirational and genuinely engaging, and use deeper analysis to give people better insights earlier in life, we have the potential to change everyday behaviours at a scale that could fundamentally reshape how long and how well we live.”

The company’s approach reflects a broader shift within the healthtech sector toward prevention rather than treatment. By providing users with early-stage biological data and predictive insights, Stride positions itself within a growing category of digital health platforms that aim to enable individuals to take proactive steps regarding their wellbeing.

European Momentum

The seed funding round demonstrates continued investor confidence in the UK healthtech ecosystem, even as the broader European startup landscape faces economic headwinds. The involvement of both venture capital firms and public sector backing through Innovate UK suggests recognition of preventative health’s potential as both a commercial opportunity and a public health imperative.

As European healthcare systems grapple with rising costs and aging populations, platforms that can deliver early intervention and personalised health guidance may become increasingly valuable. Stride’s international expansion strategy positions it to capture this opportunity as health-conscious consumers and healthcare providers across Europe seek new approaches to disease prevention and health optimisation.
