Aeon, a Zurich-based preventive healthcare startup, has closed a seed extension round bringing its total seed funding to over €12 million ($14 million). The company is deploying the capital to acquire Aware Health, a German blood-diagnostics platform, while accelerating its AI development and scaling operations across Europe.
The round was led by Araya Ventures, with participation from Concentric, GoHub Ventures, Kadmos Capital, Calm/Storm Ventures, N&V Capital, and Bigwave Capital. Founded in 2023, Aeon is positioning itself at the intersection of imaging diagnostics and biomarker analysis, leveraging artificial intelligence to offer predictive health insights.
Bridging Diagnostics and Prediction
According to Tim Seithe, the company’s leadership, the acquisition represents a strategic consolidation of complementary technologies. “We are redefining preventive care by shifting it from reaction to action. Imaging tells you where you are. Blood diagnostics tell you where you are heading. AI is what connects the two into prediction. The acquisition of Aware Health accelerates that vision by two years, and this round gives us everything we need to execute,” Seithe said.
The integration of Aware Health’s blood diagnostics capabilities into Aeon’s existing platform creates a more comprehensive approach to preventive medicine. While whole-body imaging provides anatomical information, blood biomarkers offer insight into physiological processes and disease trajectories. The combination, enhanced by machine learning algorithms, aims to enable earlier intervention and more personalized health recommendations.
Expansion and Integration Plans
Aeon intends to use the funding to fully integrate Aware Health’s diagnostics platform into its own infrastructure, expand its artificial intelligence capabilities, and strengthen its presence across European markets. The acquisition effectively accelerates the company’s development timeline while simultaneously broadening its clinical offering.
The healthtech sector has increasingly focused on preventive rather than reactive care, with several European startups exploring similar diagnostic integration strategies. Blood biomarkers and imaging data represent rich datasets for training AI models capable of predicting health trajectories before symptomatic disease emerges.
European Context
The funding round reflects growing investor confidence in European preventive healthcare startups addressing the continent’s aging populations and rising healthcare costs. Switzerland has established itself as a significant hub for healthtech innovation, with its proximity to major pharmaceutical markets and strong regulatory frameworks attracting both founders and capital.
The involvement of multiple European venture firms in this round underscores the broader trend of regional investors backing deep-tech health solutions. As European healthcare systems increasingly prioritize preventive strategies to reduce long-term expenditure, startups combining diagnostics, data science, and clinical integration continue to attract substantial funding interest.
