Swiss Agtech Startup OneSoil Raises $1 Million to Expand AI-Powered Precision Agriculture Platform Globally

OneSoil, a Swiss-based precision agriculture platform, has secured $1 million in new funding from a mix of existing and new investors, including Belarusian serial entrepreneur Yuriy Melnichek. The capital injection marks a significant milestone for the agtech company as it accelerates its international expansion and continues development of its AI-powered agronomist feature.

The funding round comes as OneSoil reaches break-even status in 2025, a remarkable achievement for a company that faced existential challenges just three years ago. Founded in 2017, the startup built its initial operations around serving farmers in Russia and Ukraine—markets that became untenable following Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

From Crisis to Restructuring

The geopolitical upheaval forced OneSoil to undertake a comprehensive reinvention. “Then the war began, and we had to reinvent ourselves almost overnight,” explained Katya Kheistver, reflecting on the company’s pivot. Rather than collapse, the team restructured operations and shifted its focus toward sustainable growth, ultimately transforming a crisis into an opportunity to build a more resilient business model.

This strategic pivot has proven successful. Between 2024 and 2025, OneSoil achieved 106% revenue growth, demonstrating strong market demand for its platform. The company now serves approximately 140,000 users spread across Europe, Africa, and Latin America—a geographic diversification that shields it from future regional disruptions.

Scaling AI Capabilities and International Reach

The newly raised capital will be deployed across three primary objectives: scaling the AI agronomist feature within its mobile application, expanding into additional international markets, and investing in engineering and product development. The AI agronomist tool represents a key differentiation for OneSoil, leveraging machine learning to provide farmers with personalized recommendations for crop management and optimization.

The company’s expansion into Africa and Latin America reflects growing demand for digital precision agriculture solutions in emerging agricultural markets. These regions represent significant opportunities for agtech innovation, where smallholder and commercial farmers increasingly seek data-driven approaches to improve yields and resource efficiency.

European Ecosystem Resilience

OneSoil’s trajectory illustrates broader patterns within the European startup ecosystem, where founders have demonstrated remarkable adaptability in navigating geopolitical and economic headwinds. The company’s ability to pivot away from its core markets, achieve profitability, and attract continued investor interest underscores the resilience of European tech entrepreneurship. As international investors increasingly recognize opportunities in precision agriculture—a sector addressing critical food security challenges—Swiss and broader European agtech companies are positioning themselves as key players in the global transformation of farming practices.
