Seraphim Space Launches Academy to Back 15 SpaceTech Startups Annually With $150,000 Investment and Year-Long Support

Seraphim Space, a United Kingdom-based venture capital firm specialising in space technology investments, has announced the establishment of the Seraphim Academy, a new accelerator programme designed to nurture early-stage SpaceTech startups through a combination of capital investment and comprehensive business support.

The Academy will provide $150,000 in direct funding to each selected company, accompanied by up to 12 months of tailored mentorship and guidance. Seraphim Space has set an ambitious target to back up to 15 companies annually across the next decade, reflecting the firm’s commitment to developing the next generation of space entrepreneurs.

Comprehensive Support Beyond Capital

Beyond the initial investment, participants in the Seraphim Academy will gain access to a structured support programme addressing the core challenges faced by early-stage founders. The initiative covers three primary areas: product development assistance, market entry strategy, and international expansion guidance. Additionally, selected startups will receive dedicated fundraising support to help them secure follow-on capital and commercial growth assistance to establish customer relationships.

According to Alexander Holt, Managing Director at Seraphim Space, the Academy reflects broader trends in the space sector. “Technologies once considered decades away are becoming commercial realities. Through the Academy, we want to help early‑stage founders turn that technical potential into businesses with customers and international reach. Our ambition is to build relationships that last well beyond the programme,” Holt said.

Targeting Pre-Seed and Seed Stage Companies

The Seraphim Academy specifically targets companies at pre-seed and seed stages of development, positioning itself as a critical source of support for founders navigating the earliest phases of their SpaceTech ventures. This focus reflects the investment landscape for space technology, where early-stage capital combined with strategic guidance can significantly accelerate a company’s path to commercialisation.

Founded in 2016, Seraphim Space has established itself as a dedicated investor in the space technology sector, recognising the growing commercial opportunities emerging from advances in satellite technology, launch services, Earth observation, and space infrastructure.

European Context

The launch of the Seraphim Academy comes at a time of increasing momentum within the European SpaceTech ecosystem. While the European Space Agency and national government programmes have historically supported space innovation, venture capital-backed accelerators and investment vehicles are playing an increasingly important role in commercialising space technologies. The UK’s continued positioning as a hub for space industry investment, despite regulatory changes, is reflected in initiatives such as Seraphim’s Academy, which aims to build a pipeline of commercially viable space companies capable of competing globally and attracting international investment. The programme signals confidence in the region’s capacity to develop scalable SpaceTech businesses that can address the growing demand for satellite services and space infrastructure solutions across Europe and beyond.
