Intuitivo, a Portuguese digital assessment platform, has closed a €1.35 million Seed funding round to accelerate its growth across Europe and Latin America. The round was led by Caixa Capital, with participation from the Impact Innovation Fund (managed by 3xP Global), Techstars, and angel groups COREangels Lisboa, COREangels Porto, and Angels Way.
Founded in 2021, Intuitivo develops technology designed to streamline the assessment process for educators. The platform addresses a persistent challenge in the education sector: the time-consuming nature of evaluating student performance and providing feedback. According to the startup, teachers currently spend a disproportionate amount of their working hours on administrative and assessment tasks rather than direct instruction.
Solving a Teacher-Identified Problem
The company’s founding principle reflects a commitment to understanding educator needs directly. “Intuitivo was born from a teacher’s request and continues to be developed together with teachers. Our goal is simple: to give time back to those who teach,” said João Guimarães, co-founder of the company.
This user-centered approach has shaped the platform’s development trajectory. Rather than imposing external solutions onto schools, Intuitivo has built its product in collaboration with teaching professionals, ensuring that the technology addresses authentic pain points within classroom environments.
Growth Plans on Multiple Fronts
The newly secured capital will be deployed across three primary initiatives. First, the company plans to deepen its product development efforts, refining existing features and expanding functionality based on user feedback. Second, Intuitivo intends to double its headcount to 20 employees, strengthening its engineering, product, and go-to-market capabilities. Third, the startup is preparing for geographic expansion into Brazil, where management has identified a market opportunity encompassing over 2 million teachers.
Brazil represents a significant strategic target for European EdTech companies seeking growth beyond saturated European markets. The South American nation’s large education sector and growing digital adoption rates have attracted increasing venture capital attention in recent years.
Positioned Within Broader European EdTech Landscape
This funding announcement reflects the continued maturation of Portugal’s startup ecosystem and the broader European EdTech sector. Portuguese founders have increasingly attracted institutional backing for ventures addressing education sector inefficiencies, with funding sources spanning both traditional venture capital and impact-focused investors.
The participation of multiple investor types—including a regional banking institution through Caixa Capital, international accelerators via Techstars, and impact-focused funds—indicates confidence that assessment technology represents both a commercially viable and socially beneficial investment thesis. As European schools accelerate digital transformation initiatives across the continent, platforms enabling teachers to work more efficiently are well-positioned to capture market opportunities across multiple geographies.
