Biolevate, a Paris-based artificial intelligence startup focused on automating scientific and regulatory workflows in the life-sciences sector, has closed a €30 million Series A funding round (approximately $32.5 million). The round was jointly led by RAISE France and Orange Ventures, with participation from MSD Global Health Innovation Fund, Station F, and EQT Ventures.
The investment marks a significant milestone for the company as it seeks to expand its footprint beyond Europe and accelerate the adoption of its AI-driven platform across the healthcare and life-sciences industries. Biolevate plans to deploy the capital toward scaling its technology, doubling its workforce, establishing an office in Boston to support North American expansion, filing patents for proprietary innovations, and broadening the application of its AI solutions across regulatory and drug-development processes.
Solving critical bottlenecks in drug discovery
The life-sciences sector faces persistent challenges in managing complex regulatory requirements and accelerating drug discovery timelines. Biolevate’s platform addresses these pain points by automating critical workflows that traditionally require substantial manual effort from scientists and regulatory experts. By leveraging artificial intelligence, the company enables organizations to streamline processes while maintaining the human oversight and evidence-based decision-making essential to pharmaceutical development and compliance.
Co-founder Joël Belafa highlighted the company’s vision during the announcement. “We started Biolevate with a mission-driven team united by the belief that AI could improve millions of lives if we empowered the right people and solved the right technological challenges,” he said. “Today, our vision is becoming reality. Customers are increasingly embracing AI automation at scale, grounded in evidence and under rigorous human oversight.”
Strategic backing from established investors
The syndicate backing Biolevate reflects strong confidence in the market opportunity for AI-powered life-sciences solutions. RAISE France, a venture capital firm focused on deepening ties between French innovation and global markets, and Orange Ventures, the corporate venture arm of the French telecommunications giant, take lead positions alongside established healthtech backers MSD Global Health Innovation Fund and EQT Ventures. Station F, Europe’s largest startup campus located in Paris, rounds out the investor group.
The composition of the funding round underscores both the credibility of Biolevate’s technology and the increasing recognition that regulatory automation and drug-discovery acceleration represent material opportunities for venture investment.
European strength in healthtech innovation
Biolevate’s funding reflects broader momentum in the European healthtech ecosystem, where startups are increasingly attracting international capital to tackle industry-wide challenges. The company’s ability to secure backing from both domestically-focused investors and global venture firms demonstrates the appeal of AI-driven solutions to entrenched problems in life-sciences operations. With plans to establish a US presence while maintaining its Paris headquarters, Biolevate exemplifies the growing tendency of European deeptech and healthtech companies to pursue truly international expansion strategies from early growth stages.
