Milan-based Cosmico Raises €12 Million in Series B to Expand Future of Work Platform Across Europe

Cosmico, a Milan-based future of work holding company, has secured €12 million in Series B funding combining equity and debt financing. The round was led by P101 SGR, with participation from Prana Ventures, marking a significant milestone for the Italian startup founded in 2021.

The capital injection arrives as Cosmico completes the full acquisition of Flatmates, a creator agency that strengthens the company’s position within the creator economy segment. This transaction represents part of a broader expansion strategy that extends beyond organic growth, with the company planning three additional acquisitions by the end of 2026.

Growth Beyond Single Product Model

Francesco Marino, CEO and Co-founder, characterized the company’s evolution in a statement: “Cosmico is no longer a scale-up with a single product: we have become a future of work holding company, with multiple verticals and a growth strategy that also includes strategic acquisitions.”

The company currently operates across Italy and Spain, maintaining a network of more than 35,000 digital professionals. This talent pool positions Cosmico within the talent-as-a-service segment, a growing category addressing the shift toward flexible, project-based work arrangements in Europe.

Strategic Expansion Plans

The Series B funding will support Cosmico’s long-term expansion initiatives and continued acquisition activity. By consolidating multiple verticals under a single holding structure, the company aims to create a comprehensive platform serving the evolving needs of organizations seeking specialized digital talent and creative services.

The combination of equity and debt financing reflects investor confidence in Cosmico’s business model and acquisition roadmap. Rather than pursuing traditional venture scaling, the company has adopted a holding company structure—a strategy gaining traction among European startups seeking to build diversified portfolios of complementary services.

Broader Ecosystem Context

Cosmico’s funding success underscores growing investor appetite for European companies addressing the future of work. The Italian startup ecosystem has increasingly attracted venture capital focused on SaaS platforms and talent marketplaces that connect organizations with specialized professionals. The focus on acquisitions as a growth lever reflects a maturing startup landscape where consolidation and vertical integration are becoming standard strategic tools.

P101 SGR’s involvement signals Italian institutional capital’s commitment to backing ambitious local founders. The participation of international investors like Prana Ventures demonstrates how companies solving pan-European challenges are drawing attention beyond their home markets.

As remote work, freelancing, and creator economy models continue reshaping employment patterns across Europe, platforms like Cosmico serve a demonstrated market need. The company’s expansion into Spain and planned further growth suggest that demand for talent-as-a-service solutions extends across multiple European markets, supporting the business case for continued investment in this sector.
