Oxylabs, a Lithuanian web-intelligence platform founded in 2015, has secured its first external investment, raising €113.6 million from global investment firm Warburg Pincus. The funding round values the Vilnius-based company at €3.1 billion, establishing it as Lithuania’s newest unicorn and marking a significant milestone for the country’s technology sector.
The company, which had operated as a bootstrapped business since its founding, will use the capital to accelerate its global expansion, establish partnerships with artificial intelligence companies, and strengthen its presence in the United States market. The investment represents a validation of Oxylabs’ business model and its position within the competitive web-intelligence and data collection space.
Julius Černiauskas, a company representative, explained the rationale behind accepting the investment and selecting Warburg Pincus as the lead investor. “We realized that it’s not just for money. We wanted to get a good partner, especially in these times where you have to partner a lot with the AI companies. And we wanted someone who has a really good name in the US to show that our company could be trusted by anyone,” Černiauskas said.
Strategic Partnership and Growth Plans
The decision to partner with Warburg Pincus reflects Oxylabs’ ambitions to integrate with emerging artificial intelligence technologies and expand its footprint in the North American market. The investment comes at a time when web-intelligence platforms are increasingly sought after by enterprises requiring reliable data collection and market research capabilities.
The company’s focus on securing partnerships with AI firms underscores the broader industry trend of integrating machine learning and artificial intelligence into data collection and analysis workflows. By bringing on an investor with established credibility in the United States, Oxylabs aims to position itself as a trusted partner for enterprise clients seeking sophisticated web-intelligence solutions.
European Startup Momentum
The funding round demonstrates continued investor confidence in European technology companies, particularly those emerging from Central and Eastern Europe. Lithuania has developed into a notable technology hub over the past decade, producing several successful software companies that have achieved international recognition.
Oxylabs’ journey from a bootstrapped startup to a billion-dollar valuation represents an important data point in the European startup ecosystem’s evolution. The company’s success in attracting significant institutional investment from a globally recognized firm suggests that European founders and their businesses are increasingly competitive on the international stage, particularly in specialized technology sectors such as web intelligence and data infrastructure.
