LITILIT, a Lithuanian deeptech company specializing in femtosecond laser technology, has secured €8 million in financing from the Lithuanian National Development Bank (ILTE) to fund an ambitious expansion into mass manufacturing. The loan forms part of a €10 million overall project that includes a €2 million equity contribution and will support the construction of a high-capacity laser production facility in Vilnius.
The investment marks a significant milestone for the company as it transitions from research and development toward industrial-scale production. Femtosecond lasers, which emit pulses lasting just billionths of a second, have applications across precision manufacturing, medical devices, and scientific research. The funding will enable LITILIT to establish infrastructure capable of producing approximately 3,000 lasers annually, substantially increasing its current output capacity.
Modular Platform Strategy
Central to LITILIT’s growth strategy is the development and commercialization of the FEMODA modular laser platform. Rather than manufacturing monolithic systems, the company is designing lasers built from interchangeable components that can be configured for different applications and power levels.
According to Nikolajus Gavrilinas, “Our new modular platform will be less sensitive to temperature, humidity, and vibration, and its modules can be combined into a more powerful system. If one fails, only that module needs replacing – not the whole system.” This approach offers practical advantages for industrial customers, reducing maintenance costs and system downtime while providing flexibility to adapt configurations as client needs evolve.
Manufacturing Scale-Up
The new Vilnius facility will represent a substantial infrastructure investment for the startup, enabling the transition from prototyping and small-batch production to automated manufacturing processes. This scale-up is critical for the company to compete in global markets where industrial users increasingly demand reliable, consistent supply chains for precision optical equipment.
The Lithuanian National Development Bank’s decision to back the project reflects confidence in both the company’s technology and the commercial potential of femtosecond laser applications across European manufacturing sectors.
