Finnish Eye-Tracking Startup SeeTrue Technologies Secures €2.2 Million Series A to Power Next-Generation Smart Glasses

SeeTrue Technologies, a deep-tech startup based in Joensuu, Finland, has closed a €2.2 million Series A funding round to accelerate the commercialization of its eye-tracking technology for smart glasses and other wearable applications.

The round was led by ZEISS Ventures, with participation from Superhero Capital, North Karelia Growth Fund (managed by Redstone Nordics), Luminate, investor Piotr Frasunkiewicz, and existing angel investors. The funding brings the company closer to its goal of integrating advanced eye-sensing capabilities into next-generation wearable devices.

Addressing the Power Challenge

Founded in 2018, SeeTrue Technologies has developed an ultra-low-power eye-tracking architecture designed to overcome a significant challenge in the wearable technology sector. As devices become smaller and more sophisticated, power consumption remains a critical barrier to mass adoption. The startup’s technology aims to deliver robust eye-tracking functionality without the battery drain that has historically limited adoption in consumer and industrial applications.

“We aren’t just improving eye tracking; we are shrinking it to fit the future of wearable tech,” said Roman Bednarik, a key figure at the company. “If XR and AI glasses are supposed to achieve mass adoption, eye‑tracking must become invisible to the user but significantly more powerful for the device.”

Scaling Operations and Market Presence

The newly secured capital will be deployed across three strategic priorities: accelerating commercialization of the eye-sensing architecture, expanding the company’s engineering and development team in Joensuu, and strengthening international go-to-market efforts. The funding reflects investor confidence in SeeTrue’s ability to capture opportunities across multiple sectors, including consumer smart glasses, medical optics, and industrial applications where precise eye tracking offers tangible value.

The involvement of ZEISS Ventures signals strong interest from the established optics and imaging industry. ZEISS, a global leader in optical systems, brings not only capital but also technical credibility and potential pathway access to enterprise markets where eye-tracking technology could enhance diagnostic and safety capabilities.

European Deep-Tech Momentum

SeeTrue Technologies represents the growing strength of Northern European deep-tech innovation, particularly in specialized hardware domains. Finland has established itself as a hotbed for wearable technology development, building on decades of expertise in mobile computing and miniaturized electronics. The involvement of regional investors such as North Karelia Growth Fund demonstrates how locally-focused venture capital continues to support hardware innovation outside traditional tech hubs.

The company’s focus on solving genuine technical constraints—rather than pursuing speculative applications—positions it within a broader European movement toward pragmatic deep-tech development. As the smart glasses and AR glasses markets develop, the availability of efficient, powerful eye-tracking solutions will likely become a competitive differentiator between platforms. SeeTrue’s funding success suggests that investors increasingly recognize this opportunity.
