Spotable, a Belgian construction-technology startup, has closed a €4 million seed funding round to accelerate the development of its artificial intelligence-driven platform and fuel its expansion into major European markets and the United States.
Based in Ghent, Spotable has developed a digital measurement and quoting solution designed specifically for contractors, particularly those in the roofing sector. The platform aims to streamline workflows by replacing traditional paperwork-based processes with automated technology that enables faster, more reliable project assessments and quotes.
The funding round drew backing from a diverse group of investors, including Jonas Dhaenens, associated with team.blue; venture capitalist Christophe Morbee of NewSchool.vc; the family office of Hilde Cloostermans and Philip Corens; and Arne Vandendriessche, current CEO of Get Driven and former chief executive of Signpost. This investor composition reflects confidence in the startup’s market opportunity and execution capability.
Addressing a Fragmented Market
Despite its relatively recent founding in 2024, Spotable has identified a significant gap in the construction industry. Contractors working across roofing and related trades continue to rely heavily on manual measurement processes and paper-based documentation, creating inefficiencies and limiting scalability. The company’s platform digitises these workflows, enabling field professionals to complete measurements and generate quotes more efficiently.
Sebastien Vandendriessche, representing the company, articulated the founding vision: “Software for roofers wasn’t exactly the obvious foundation for an international technology company eighteen months ago. That’s precisely where we saw an opportunity: giving contractors technology that’s fast, reliable and easy to use. No more paperwork, just real results.”
Expansion Plans
The €4 million capital injection will be allocated toward two primary objectives: enhancing the core platform’s capabilities and supporting geographical expansion. Spotable intends to penetrate larger European markets, with France and Germany identified as key targets, while simultaneously establishing operations in the United States. This dual focus reflects the startup’s ambition to build a pan-Atlantic presence in the construction-technology space.
The investment arrives as European construction-tech companies increasingly attract venture capital attention. The sector addresses persistent digitisation gaps within the construction industry, where many operators have been slow to adopt modern software solutions compared to other sectors. Startups offering practical, sector-specific tools for measurement, estimation, and project management have demonstrated strong market demand and retention characteristics.
Spotable’s funding success underscores the broader trend of European entrepreneurs building verticalized software companies that target underserved professional services. By focusing initially on roofing contractors while building technology that addresses universal workflow challenges, the startup positions itself for potential expansion into adjacent construction trades and geographies.
