Arena, an artificial intelligence evaluation platform, has secured $200 million in Series B funding, elevating the company’s valuation to approximately $3.1 billion. The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures, with participation from Salesforce Ventures, a16z, 01 Advisors, Dell Technologies Capital, Endeavor Catalyst, Felicis, AMP PBC, QuantumLight, and The House Fund.
The Berkeley, California-based startup, co-founded by Ion Stoica, a professor known for his work in distributed systems and machine learning infrastructure, plans to deploy the new capital toward expanding its product portfolio, launching the Alignment Index, and strengthening its team across machine learning, product engineering, design, marketing, and business development functions.
Rapid Growth and Market Expansion
Arena’s trajectory underscores the accelerating demand for AI evaluation tools as organizations increasingly deploy artificial intelligence systems across their operations. According to the company, it has experienced significant growth since its Series A funding round in January 2026, expanding beyond its initial focus to evaluate agency capabilities across multiple domains.
The platform has achieved annualized revenue exceeding $100 million and established itself as what the company describes as “the most trusted AI evaluation platform” in its category. This rapid monetization suggests strong market demand from enterprises seeking robust assessment mechanisms for AI systems.
“In January 2026 we raised a Series A to build the world’s most trusted AI evaluation platform. Since then Arena has grown rapidly into a platform that evaluates agency capabilities across every domain. We have surpassed $100 million in annualized revenue and become the most trusted AI evaluation platform,” the company stated.
Strategic Alignment Index Launch
The introduction of the Alignment Index represents a strategic initiative to address growing concerns about AI system reliability and trustworthiness. As artificial intelligence systems become more sophisticated and widely deployed, mechanisms to evaluate their alignment with intended purposes have become increasingly critical for enterprise adoption.
The influx of capital and investor backing reflects confidence in Arena’s business model and market positioning. The participation of prominent venture firms including Lightspeed and Khosla, alongside established technology investors like Salesforce Ventures and Dell Technologies Capital, indicates strong institutional support for the company’s expansion plans.
European Context
Arena’s successful capital raise highlights the broader competitive dynamics in AI infrastructure and evaluation tools, a sector where European startups are increasingly making their mark. While the U.S. maintains dominance in venture-backed AI companies, European firms focused on AI governance, evaluation, and safety have begun attracting substantial investment attention. Companies addressing similar market needs for AI transparency and assessment represent one of the more promising segments within the continent’s growing AI safety and assurance ecosystem.
