UiPath Foundation, the non-profit arm of Romanian-American software robotics company UiPath, has announced significant progress in its educational initiatives across Romania, reaching vulnerable communities with over 67,000 hours of educational activities throughout 2025.
The foundation’s expanded portfolio reflects a growing commitment to bridging the digital divide in Romania. Among the total learning hours provided, 5,023 hours focused specifically on digital skills courses, equipping children with foundational competencies in an increasingly technology-driven world. The organization also distributed 14,570 scholarships to support continued educational access for disadvantaged students.
New AI Curriculum and Professional Development
A major milestone for the foundation was the launch of the AI Generation curriculum, developed in collaboration with MIT App Inventor Foundation and UNESCO. This initiative represents an effort to introduce artificial intelligence literacy to younger populations in a structured, educationally sound manner. Complementing this curriculum launch, UiPath Foundation trained approximately 10,000 education professionals to deliver these programs effectively in classrooms and community settings across the country.
Raluca Negulescu-Balaci, a key figure at the foundation, encapsulated the organization’s vision for 2025: “În 2025, ne-a fost clar că viitorul copiilor va fi definit de accesul la tehnologie, dar mai ales de gândire critică – capacitatea lor de a o înțelege, folosi și integra cu responsabilitate în propriul parcurs educațional, precum și în viață.” This perspective underscores the foundation’s belief that technical access alone is insufficient without developing critical thinking skills around technology use.
Scaling Long-Term Programs
The foundation expanded several cornerstone programs designed to provide sustained support rather than one-off interventions. Caleidoscop, one of its flagship initiatives, now supports 1,135 high school students pursuing educational advancement. Salt Către Viitor serves 228 children aged 11-15 with targeted educational support, while Pași Către Școală and Educator de Viitor continue providing additional pathways for vulnerable populations to access quality education and professional development.
These programs collectively demonstrate a multi-layered approach to educational equity, addressing different age groups and developmental stages from primary education through professional teacher training.
European Education Technology Context
UiPath Foundation’s expansion in Romania reflects broader trends within the European startup and social impact ecosystems, where technology companies increasingly recognize responsibility toward educational equity. As European nations grapple with skills gaps in emerging technologies and disparities in digital access across socioeconomic lines, initiatives like those undertaken by UiPath Foundation illustrate how established tech companies leverage their expertise to address systemic educational challenges. Romania’s position as a growing tech hub makes such foundation work particularly relevant, creating pipelines of talent from underserved communities while simultaneously building a more inclusive digital society.
