Luxembourg Cybersecurity Startup Osavul Secures €8.5M Series A to Expand Enterprise and Defence Operations

Osavul, a Luxembourg-based cybersecurity company specialising in artificial intelligence-driven threat detection, has closed a €8.5 million Series A funding round led by 33N Ventures. The round, which brings the company’s total funding to €12 million, also included participation from Balnord, G+D Ventures, and 42CAP.

The investment marks a significant milestone for the startup, which has built its reputation serving NATO and other defence organisations with advanced threat detection capabilities that combine cyber and physical security intelligence. The fresh capital will support Osavul’s expansion into enterprise markets while deepening its engagement with government and defence sector clients across Europe.

Addressing Hybrid Attack Threats

Osavul’s platform focuses on detecting hybrid attacks—coordinated campaigns that blend cyber operations with physical threats. According to Dmytro Plieshakov, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, this threat landscape is no longer confined to government institutions. “Hybrid attacks are no longer a government problem alone,” Plieshakov stated. “The companies running energy, airports, ports, transport and finance now face the same adversaries, usually without the means to see them coming.”

The observation reflects a broader shift in cyber threats, where critical infrastructure operators and essential service providers have increasingly become targets for state-sponsored and non-state actors. This expansion of the threat surface beyond traditional defence and government organisations has created new demand for sophisticated detection solutions.

Market Expansion Strategy

The Series A funding will enable Osavul to scale its operations across multiple fronts. The company plans to expand its enterprise client portfolio while strengthening relationships with government and defence organisations. This dual-track approach positions the startup to capture growth in both the commercial and public sectors, where demand for integrated threat detection solutions continues to rise.

The investment reflects growing confidence among European venture investors in the region’s cybersecurity sector. 33N Ventures’ decision to lead the round demonstrates institutional backing for solutions addressing emerging security paradigms that extend beyond traditional network defence.

European Cybersecurity Momentum

Osavul’s funding success comes amid sustained investment activity in European cybersecurity startups. The continent’s strategic focus on digital sovereignty and critical infrastructure protection has created a favourable environment for companies developing innovative security technologies. Luxembourg, home to Osavul, has positioned itself as a centre for trusted digital infrastructure and secure cloud services, attracting both startups and established technology firms seeking to establish European operations.

The startup’s trajectory reflects broader industry trends showing how European founders are addressing security challenges through artificial intelligence and integrated threat intelligence platforms. With total funding now at €12 million, Osavul is well-positioned to compete for market share in an expanding cybersecurity landscape where organisations across sectors recognise the need for advanced threat detection capabilities.
