Munich AI Startup Atira Secures $17.5M to Automate Industrial Sales Engineering

Atira, a Munich-based artificial intelligence startup, has announced $17.5 million in total funding across seed and pre-seed rounds to accelerate its AI orchestration platform for industrial sales engineering. The capital comprises $15 million in a seed round led by Accel, alongside a previously undisclosed $2.5 million pre-seed round, the company said.

The funding round also included participation from venture capital firms UVC and Fortino, as well as angel investors Ann-Kristin Achleitner, Marc Bitzer, Markus Flik, and Bastian Nominacher, alongside early-stage investor Booom.

Targeting an Unautomated Workflow

Atira’s platform addresses what the company identifies as a significant gap in industrial software: the automation of complex sales engineering processes. The startup describes sales engineering as one of the largest workflows in manufacturing that has yet to be effectively automated by software solutions.

According to Florian Diegruber, in a statement about the funding, “Sales engineering is one of the largest workflows in manufacturing that software has never truly automated. Today, critical commercial expertise is scattered across people, documents and disconnected systems. Atira is changing that by helping industrials turn expertise into a scalable capability and bringing AI into one of the most important processes in industrial organizations.”

The company’s approach centers on consolidating fragmented expertise and data typically spread across teams, documents, and disparate systems, creating a more integrated and scalable capability for industrial organizations.

Expansion Plans

The startup intends to deploy the new capital across several strategic priorities. The company plans to expand its go-to-market team and accelerate product development efforts. Additionally, Atira will focus on international expansion to establish its presence beyond Germany.

The funding will also support the extension of its platform into adjacent commercial workflows. These include pricing intelligence capabilities, after-sales services, and supplier coordination functions—areas the company sees as natural extensions of its core sales engineering automation technology.

Emerging Industrial AI Sector

Atira’s funding round reflects growing investor interest in artificial intelligence solutions tailored to industrial and manufacturing sectors. The European startup ecosystem has increasingly focused on vertical AI applications that address specific operational challenges within traditional industries, moving beyond consumer-facing AI applications.

The Munich-based startup joins a cohort of European AI companies targeting industrial workflows, where significant operational inefficiencies and manual processes persist despite broader digitalization efforts. With this funding, Atira aims to establish itself as a key player in automating critical sales and commercial processes for industrial organizations across Europe and beyond.
