SOMAREALITY, a Vienna-based deeptech company specializing in real-time cognitive monitoring through eye tracking technology, has secured over €3 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Catalyst Romania, with participation from MT-Lab, RDY Ventures, Moondust Ventures, and Gateway Ventures.
The Austrian startup, which was founded in 2020, plans to deploy the capital across three strategic priorities: strengthening its existing business-to-business client segments, supporting newly launched longitudinal studies, and developing a business-to-consumer brand extension that would bring cognitive insights to mainstream users.
Expanding Beyond Enterprise Markets
SOMAREALITY’s eye tracking platform has already gained traction within B2B markets, where the company works with institutional clients who value the scientific rigor underpinning its cognitive monitoring capabilities. The Series A investment reflects investor confidence in both the company’s existing commercial performance and its potential to reach new audiences through direct-to-consumer applications.
Adrian Brodesser, a company representative, commented on the funding achievement and strategic direction: “With our presence in B2B and the trust put in us by our clients and partners, we’ve proven that cognitive insights based on eye tracking is here to stay. Now, with persisting interest in personalised health as a whole and renewed interest in wearable eye tracking technology, we’re bringing our scientific underpinning to B2C and thereby to anyone who has always wanted to understand how their mind works but has never been able to outside of the lab.”
Positioning for Market Growth
The funding announcement positions SOMAREALITY at an inflection point within the broader wearable health technology sector. Consumer interest in personalized health monitoring has grown substantially over recent years, while eye tracking technology—historically confined to specialized research and industrial applications—has become increasingly accessible through advances in miniaturization and computational efficiency.
The company’s dual approach of supporting longitudinal studies alongside consumer product development suggests a commitment to maintaining scientific credibility while pursuing commercial scale. This positioning allows SOMAREALITY to contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting eye tracking’s applications in cognitive health monitoring, potentially strengthening competitive moats through proprietary datasets and validated methodologies.
European Deeptech Momentum
The investment round reflects sustained momentum within continental Europe’s deeptech and AI/ML sectors, where Vienna has emerged as a meaningful hub for specialized technology development. The participation of investors from multiple European markets—including Romania-based Catalyst Romania in a lead capacity—underscores the transnational nature of deeptech capital formation within the region.
As SOMAREALITY executes its expansion plans across B2B operations and B2C market entry, the company’s trajectory will provide insight into the commercial viability of eye tracking applications in consumer health markets, an area that has attracted growing interest from both established healthcare companies and emerging startups across Europe.
