Vensum Power, a Finnish deep-tech company specializing in power conversion technology, has closed a €9 million Series A funding round to accelerate production scaling and drive its expansion into the rapidly growing AI data centre market.
The funding round was co-led by Lifeline Ventures, Larsen & Toubro Group and Eviny Ventures, bringing the startup’s total capital raised to €15.2 million since its inception. The fresh injection of capital will primarily support the mass production of Vensum Power’s proprietary software-defined power conversion platform while enabling the company to establish its presence in the energy-intensive data centre sector.
Addressing Data Centre Efficiency Challenges
Vensum Power has developed high-efficiency, software-defined power converters designed for multiple applications including electric vehicle charging infrastructure, energy storage systems, direct current microgrids and data centres. The technology addresses a critical challenge facing the data centre industry as artificial intelligence workloads continue to expand globally.
Peter Nisula, a key figure at the company, highlighted the shifting priorities within data centre operations. “The question in data centres is no longer only how powerful the chips are, but how efficiently the used electricity actually reaches them. Thanks to the software-defined approach, our converters operate consistently at extremely high efficiency even with rapidly changing loads,” Nisula noted.
Strategic Positioning in Energy Transition
The funding represents growing investor confidence in solutions that improve power conversion efficiency across multiple sectors. As Europe accelerates its energy transition and data centre investments surge to support AI infrastructure development, companies offering power management solutions face substantial market opportunities.
Vensum Power’s software-defined approach differentiates its offering from conventional power conversion systems by enabling dynamic optimization in response to varying operational demands. This capability proves particularly valuable in data centre environments where computational loads fluctuate significantly and energy consumption represents a major operational cost.
The involvement of Larsen & Toubro Group, a major conglomerate with extensive experience in infrastructure and industrial solutions, alongside venture investors Lifeline Ventures and Eviny Ventures, suggests the startup has attracted both strategic and financial backing for its expansion plans.
Growing European Deep-Tech Ecosystem
The funding round underscores the continued vitality of Europe’s deep-tech startup landscape, particularly within the energy and infrastructure technology sectors. Finnish companies have established themselves as notable contributors to this space, with the Nordic region developing particular strength in sustainable technology solutions and industrial efficiency innovations. Vensum Power’s progress reflects broader European momentum in developing indigenous technological capabilities for the energy transition, reducing reliance on international suppliers for critical infrastructure components as the continent pursues its ambitious climate objectives.
