Hardt Hyperloop, the Rotterdam-based mobility systems developer, has secured a multi-million-euro investment round to navigate its path out of bankruptcy and accelerate expansion into new markets. The funding round was led by Green Rock, a US-based investor, with participation from existing backers Perpetuum Ventures and Urban Impact Ventures.
The company, which was founded in 2017, entered bankruptcy proceedings earlier this year before securing the new capital injection. The investment represents a significant lifeline for the organization as it continues to develop and commercialize hyperloop transportation technology.
Technology Development and Strategic Expansion
The capital will be directed toward advancing Hardt Hyperloop’s core hyperloop technology while simultaneously preparing European deployment projects and developing new initiatives across North, Central, and South America. The expansion strategy is underpinned by a strategic partnership with lead investor Green Rock, which appears positioned to facilitate the company’s entry into American markets.
According to Tim Houter, a company representative, the funding marks a turning point for the organization. “This investment marks a new chapter for Hardt Hyperloop after a challenging period, and enables us to continue with the development and deployment of our technologies,” Houter stated. “We are grateful for the continued support of our existing investors and pleased to welcome Green Rock. Our collaboration with Green Rock also opens up new hyperloop projects,” he added.
Navigating Challenges in Emerging Mobility Sector
The investment comes at a time when the hyperloop sector faces significant technical and regulatory hurdles. Hardt Hyperloop’s return from bankruptcy with fresh capital underscores both the challenges confronting emerging mobility technologies and the continued investor interest in transportation innovation.
The company’s focus on both European and American markets reflects broader ambitions within the hyperloop industry to develop point-to-point transportation systems that could rival conventional high-speed rail and aviation for medium-distance routes.
European Ecosystem Context
Hardt Hyperloop’s recovery represents one of several significant developments within Europe’s advanced mobility ecosystem. The continent has emerged as a hub for experimental transportation technologies, with numerous startups and research initiatives exploring alternatives to traditional transit methods. Investors have demonstrated sustained commitment to mobility innovation despite sector-wide challenges, with particular emphasis on technologies positioned to reduce carbon emissions and enhance connectivity.
The involvement of Green Rock as a lead investor also signals growing American interest in European mobility innovations, suggesting potential pathways for technology transfer and transatlantic collaboration as these emerging transportation modes progress toward commercialization.
