Entourage, a European venture capital firm focused on early-stage technology companies, has announced the closing of its second fund at €100 million ($108 million). The fund exceeded the firm’s original €75 million target within two weeks, prompting the firm to cap fundraising at the higher figure.
Founded by Pieterjan Bouten, former chief executive of Belgian software company Showpad, Entourage has positioned itself as a backer of pre-seed and seed-stage companies working in frontier technology areas. The newly closed fund will be deployed across approximately 25 portfolio companies, with initial checks ranging from €1 million to €5 million per investment. The firm has reserved additional capital for follow-on rounds to support portfolio companies through subsequent funding stages.
Deployment strategy across AI and deep-tech
The capital will focus on companies operating in artificial intelligence, enterprise software, robotics, physical AI, and broader deep-tech sectors. This thematic concentration reflects broader investor interest in foundational technology areas that multiple downstream industries depend upon.
“When we launched Entourage two years ago, we had a simple ambition: to back the next generation of legendary founders,” Bouten stated, highlighting the firm’s founding principle of identifying and supporting exceptional entrepreneurial talent early in their company-building journey.
Alongside the fund close, Entourage has expanded its operational infrastructure. The firm has grown its team and established new offices in London and Paris, extending its geographic reach across Western Europe. This expansion suggests the firm intends to source investment opportunities and provide portfolio support across multiple European markets rather than concentrating primarily on its Belgian base.
Growth in European early-stage venture
The rapid oversubscription of Entourage’s second fund reflects sustained investor appetite for early-stage European technology ventures, despite broader macroeconomic headwinds that have affected venture capital deployment in recent years. The firm’s ability to attract capital significantly above its initial target demonstrates confidence in its investment thesis and track record from its first fund.
Entourage’s focus on pre-seed and seed investments positions it within a competitive segment of the European venture market. Early-stage funding remains critical infrastructure for the continent’s startup ecosystem, providing nascent companies with initial validation and resources to develop products and establish market traction before pursuing larger institutional funding rounds.
The firm’s emphasis on deep-tech and AI reflects patterns observed across European venture capital, where investor interest in transformative technologies has intensified. Companies addressing challenges in robotics, industrial AI, and enterprise software automation have attracted particular attention as potential category creators.
With €100 million under management and a clearly defined investment strategy, Entourage joins a cohort of European early-stage specialists working to ensure the continent’s technological entrepreneurs have access to patient capital during critical formative stages. The fund’s deployment across both European and global opportunities suggests the firm views compelling early-stage ventures as geographically distributed rather than concentrated within specific national borders.
