Unravel Health, a London-based women’s health startup, has secured €2.96 million in Series A funding to advance its Micro Lab, a portable device designed to measure multiple hormones from saliva samples at home. The round was led by Conduit EIS Impact Fund and Wrightwood, with participation from Leo Capital, Embryo Ventures, Hermesa, and Zinc VC.
The startup, founded in 2024, now has raised a total of €4.14 million to bring its hormone-monitoring technology to market. The Micro Lab represents a shift away from traditional blood-based hormone testing, enabling users to conduct measurements independently in their own homes rather than visiting clinical laboratories.
Addressing a Clinical Gap
Veronika Bridgman, Co-founder and Chief Executive of Unravel Health, explained the motivation behind the technology. “People said nobody could climb Everest without oxygen, until someone did. Reading hormones in saliva outside a lab has been our Everest. Fifteen years ago I built my own hormone tracker to manage PCOS (now PMOS), because a blood test told me almost nothing about what my body was doing. Soon anyone will be able to bring the lab home to understand their symptoms,” she stated.
The founder’s personal experience highlights a significant gap in current women’s health diagnostics. Conventional hormone testing through blood samples often provides limited temporal resolution, capturing only single snapshots of complex hormonal patterns. At-home saliva testing could enable more frequent and accessible monitoring, potentially supporting better symptom management and diagnostic accuracy.
Development Path and Market Entry
Unravel Health plans to deploy the funding toward several key objectives. The capital will support external equivalency studies to validate the Micro Lab’s accuracy, expand its capacity to measure additional biomarkers beyond those currently targeted, and navigate the regulatory approval process necessary for market authorization. The company is preparing for an early-access device launch scheduled for 2027, with distribution planned through pharmacy partners, digital health platforms, and clinical research organisations.
This phased approach suggests a measured commercialisation strategy that prioritises regulatory compliance and clinical validation before broader market availability.
Growing European Healthtech Innovation
Unravel Health’s funding round reflects continued investor confidence in European women’s health innovation and diagnostic technology. The involvement of multiple UK-based and European venture capital firms underscores growing recognition of the commercial and social potential within this sector. As digital health and remote patient monitoring gain prominence across Europe’s healthcare landscape, startups addressing specific diagnostic gaps—particularly those affecting underserved patient populations—continue to attract significant capital.
The startup’s progress will be closely watched by the broader European healthtech community, particularly as it advances toward clinical validation and regulatory clearance for what could become a widely accessible diagnostic tool.
