Italian Quantum Sensor Startup Qsensato Secures €1 Million SAFE Investment for In-House Fabrication Facility

Qsensato, an Italian deep-tech company specializing in quantum atomic sensors, has closed a €1 million SAFE investment round led by quantum-focused venture capital firm Quantonation and Deep Ocean Capital. The funding will accelerate the company’s development roadmap and establish its first proprietary fabrication facility.

Based in Bari, Qsensato will use the capital to construct its fabrication facility at the TecnoPolis science park, a technology hub in the Apulia region. Beyond infrastructure development, the company plans to intensify research and development activities, expand its technical and managerial workforce, and deepen partnerships aimed at validating its quantum sensor technology in industrial applications.

Building Infrastructure for Quantum Advancement

The establishment of an in-house fabrication facility represents a critical milestone for the Italian startup’s growth trajectory. Manufacturing quantum sensors requires precise control over complex processes, and bringing production capabilities in-house allows Qsensato to maintain quality standards while accelerating iterations on its technology.

Vito Giovanni Lucivero, CEO of Qsensato, highlighted the significance of the backing: “This investment represents an important signal from leading international investors like Quantonation and Deep Ocean Capital, accelerating the realization of our internal FAB‑1 at TecnoPolis and strengthening our industrial validation collaborations.”

The announcement follows a pre-seed funding round that the company completed earlier in 2025, demonstrating continued investor confidence in the startup’s technical approach and market potential. Beyond venture capital, Qsensato has secured recognition through scientific awards and research collaborations that validate its quantum sensor development path.

Positioning for Industrial Scale

Quantum sensors represent an emerging frontier in measurement technology, with applications spanning navigation, timing, geophysical surveys, and fundamental physics research. The sector has attracted significant institutional attention as governments and private enterprises recognize the potential competitive advantages of quantum-enhanced sensing capabilities.

Quantonation, which led the investment, has established itself as a primary capital source for quantum computing and quantum sensing ventures across Europe. Deep Ocean Capital’s participation underscores broader investor interest in deep-tech infrastructure being developed outside traditional innovation hubs.

The availability of government-backed science parks such as TecnoPolis has positioned southern Italy as an increasingly viable location for advanced manufacturing and research-intensive ventures. By establishing fabrication capabilities in the region, Qsensato contributes to building regional competence in quantum technologies while benefiting from established research infrastructure.

The company’s focus on industrial validation distinguishes its approach from purely research-oriented ventures. Securing end-user partnerships and demonstrating real-world performance will likely remain central to the startup’s near-term objectives as it progresses toward commercialization.

This development reflects the broader European trend of deep-tech startups attracting meaningful capital for scaling manufacturing capabilities, particularly in quantum and photonics sectors where specialized fabrication requirements create barriers to entry for competing ventures.
