Italian AI Startup Tiledesk Raises €1.1 Million to Expand Process Automation Platform

Tiledesk, an Italian startup founded in 2022, has closed a €1.1 million seed round to advance its open-source AI agent and process-automation platform. The funding round was led by Zest, with participation from Vertis and OpenT.

The company plans to deploy the capital toward accelerating technology development, streamlining platform usability, expanding its open-core architecture, and enabling natural-language process automation capabilities across enterprise environments.

From Customer Care to Back-Office Automation

Tiledesk initially launched with a focus on customer care solutions, but the startup has observed a significant shift in client requirements. Enterprises now seek to automate broader operational workflows beyond traditional support functions.

“We started three years ago with customer care, but today clients ask us to automate entire back-office processes—from invoice handling to payment request verification and IT activities,” said Andrea Sponziello, Founder of Tiledesk.

This expansion reflects broader market trends in which organizations increasingly view AI-driven automation as a means to optimize costs and reduce manual workload across multiple departments. The platform’s natural-language interface allows non-technical staff to design and deploy automation workflows without requiring extensive coding expertise.

Targeting Multiple Sectors

Tiledesk’s open-source approach positions it to serve diverse industries, including telecommunications, public administration, and other sectors managing high volumes of structured and unstructured data. The platform enables companies to create AI agents capable of handling routine administrative tasks, document processing, and request verification with minimal human intervention.

The startup’s emphasis on open-core architecture suggests a community-driven development strategy, potentially allowing external developers to contribute to the platform’s evolution and customize solutions for specific use cases. This approach has gained traction within the automation software market, where flexibility and extensibility appeal to enterprises with varied operational requirements.

European AI Investment Momentum

The funding announcement reflects sustained investor interest in European artificial intelligence startups, particularly those addressing enterprise automation needs. Italy’s startup ecosystem has increasingly attracted venture capital focused on productivity and operational efficiency solutions, signaling confidence in locally-developed technology addressing global market demands.

Tiledesk’s seed round positions the company to compete within a growing segment of AI-powered automation platforms aimed at simplifying complex business processes. As European enterprises navigate digital transformation priorities, platforms enabling rapid deployment of AI agents through intuitive interfaces are likely to see expanded adoption across regulated industries where auditability and transparency remain essential considerations.

The startup’s next phase will focus on maturing its technology stack while building partnerships that extend its reach across target verticals. Success in scaling Tiledesk’s user base and platform capabilities could establish the company as a significant player in Europe’s enterprise automation landscape.
