EnforceShield, a Lithuanian legaltech startup, has raised €1.7 million in seed funding to accelerate development of its artificial intelligence-powered platform designed to automate intellectual property enforcement for online marketplaces and brand owners. The funding round was led by Vendep Capital, with support from FIRSTPICK VC.
The startup, founded in 2024, has developed a SaaS solution that leverages AI to identify and address IP violations without requiring constant human oversight. The platform targets a growing pain point for enterprises managing their intellectual property across digital channels, where counterfeit goods and unauthorized use remain persistent challenges.
Rethinking Legal Operations
The company’s approach stems from founder Rytis Rudzinskas’s experience managing IP enforcement workflows manually over several years. According to Rudzinskas, “Enterprises didn’t need more lawyers or even a software co‑pilot. They needed tech that’s able to think like a lawyer and pilot itself through enforcement workflows. We started by reworking the legal operational workflows I’ve spent years building and operating manually and encoded that expertise into a system that can run autonomously.”
This philosophy positions EnforceShield as more than a conventional legal software tool. Rather than serving as an assistant to lawyers, the platform is designed to handle enforcement decisions and processes independently, drawing on encoded legal expertise and operational knowledge.
Investment and Growth Plans
EnforceShield intends to deploy the newly raised capital across several strategic priorities. The funding will support expansion of the platform’s technical and product capabilities, with particular focus on developing AI agents capable of handling repeat offenders and complex enforcement cases that typically demand specialized legal judgment.
Commercial expansion into the United States represents another key objective for the startup. This geographic push underscores the global nature of intellectual property challenges, particularly as counterfeit and unauthorized products increasingly traverse international borders through e-commerce channels.
European Legaltech Momentum
The funding announcement reflects growing investor confidence in European legaltech solutions addressing specific operational challenges. While the European legal technology sector has historically concentrated on document automation and contract management tools, startups like EnforceShield demonstrate expansion into specialized enforcement and compliance domains.
Lithuania has emerged as an unexpected hub for innovation in this space, combining a technically skilled workforce with lower operational costs than Western European alternatives. EnforceShield’s success in attracting established venture capital firms highlights how early-stage European legaltech companies can compete internationally, particularly when addressing problems with clear commercial value for enterprise clients.
As digital commerce continues expanding globally, the demand for automated IP protection mechanisms is likely to intensify. EnforceShield’s autonomous enforcement approach may prove particularly attractive to brands struggling to manage violations at scale across multiple marketplaces simultaneously.
