Sicilian Deeptech Startup Archimede Raises 1.5 Million Euros in Seed Round Led by Primo Capital

Archimede, a deeptech startup based in Siracusa, Sicily, has closed a €1.5 million seed round, surpassing its initial funding target of €1 million. The round was led by Primo Capital, with participation from CDP Venture Capital, Plug and Play, Elis via CrossConnect, 40Jemz Ventures, and Irritec.

The company develops ArchMesh, a modular infrastructure management platform designed for off-grid and remote environments. The solution combines predictive energy management capabilities with satellite connectivity and low-code software, addressing operational challenges in areas where traditional infrastructure connectivity is limited or unavailable.

Technology Addressing Remote Infrastructure Gaps

Archimede’s integrated approach tackles a growing market need. Remote regions, industrial sites, and emergency response scenarios increasingly require reliable energy and connectivity solutions without dependence on centralized grid infrastructure. The company’s platform brings together these essential functions into a unified system, reducing complexity for operators managing distributed assets.

The founding of Archimede in 2024 positions the startup within the expanding European deeptech and cleantech sectors, where innovation in energy management and connectivity infrastructure continues to attract investor attention.

Planned Use of Capital

The startup intends to deploy the newly raised capital across several strategic priorities. Resources will support expansion of both technical and commercial teams, enabling the company to accelerate product development and market engagement. The funds will also support completion of product industrialization—the transition from prototype to production-ready systems—as well as the execution of enterprise pilot projects with potential customers.

International expansion represents another key allocation area, with the company planning to extend operations beyond its Italian base.

Mara Attardi from Primo Capital’s investment team provided insight into the fund’s decision. “What convinced us about Archimede is not just the technology, but how it was built to address energy and connectivity challenges in remote areas,” she stated. “Their integrated stack operates at the edges of connectivity where demand is growing fastest.”

European Context

The funding round reflects broader trends in European venture capital’s growing focus on deeptech solutions addressing infrastructure and climate challenges. Italian startups in particular have seen increased investor interest in recent years, with regional innovation hubs in cities like Rome, Milan, and now Sicily attracting both domestic and international capital. The diverse investor syndicate—spanning traditional venture capital, corporate venture arms, and specialized climate tech investors—demonstrates confidence in the market opportunity for integrated off-grid solutions.

As European nations pursue digital connectivity targets and renewable energy transitions, infrastructure management platforms targeting remote and distributed environments represent a growing investment category. Archimede’s funding success adds to a pipeline of European startups developing critical infrastructure technologies for underserved geographic and operational markets.
