Mimir, an Oslo-based artificial intelligence startup, has raised €518.3k (approximately $600,000) in pre-Seed funding to develop technology that automates operational workflows for e-commerce businesses.
The round was led by Sondo Capital, with participation from VILLOID, Kry, Enode, and Whitson. The company, which was founded in 2024, plans to use the capital to accelerate product development and expand its team.
Automating the operational backbone
Mimir positions itself within the broader market of AI-driven business automation, focusing specifically on the operational challenges that e-commerce teams face daily. Rather than limiting its scope to customer support alone, the startup is building a platform designed to handle multiple layers of operational work that currently consume significant time and resources across the sector.
“Customer support is only the starting point,” said Jørgen Vartdal Halse, likely the company’s founder or leader. “Our vision is to automate the operational work that slows e-commerce teams down, while giving consumers instant, personalised help around the clock.”
This approach reflects a broader industry trend of AI systems moving beyond single-use applications toward more comprehensive operational platforms that address multiple pain points within e-commerce environments.
Strong investor backing from Nordic ecosystem
The funding round draws backing from established players across the Nordic technology landscape. Sondo Capital, serving as lead investor, has developed a track record in supporting early-stage ventures. The participation of Kry—a prominent Nordic digital health platform—and Enode—known for API infrastructure in energy technology—suggests Mimir’s backers bring diverse operational experience from their own scaling journeys.
This capital injection arrives at a moment when European startups continue to attract investment despite broader economic uncertainties. The Norwegian startup scene, in particular, has demonstrated resilience with a growing number of venture-backed companies in artificial intelligence and automation technologies.
Context within European AI landscape
Mimir’s funding reflects the sustained investor appetite for AI-powered solutions that address specific operational inefficiencies in established industries. E-commerce automation represents one of several sectors where machine learning systems are progressively replacing manual processes, from inventory management to customer communications.
The startup’s emergence from Oslo contributes to the Nordic region’s reputation as a source of pragmatic, B2B technology companies. With pre-Seed capital now secured, Mimir will compete in an increasingly crowded but expanding market segment where AI platforms promise to unlock productivity gains for mid-market and enterprise e-commerce operators.
The company’s focus on combining consumer-facing assistance with backend operational automation positions it at the intersection of customer experience and operational efficiency—a combination that resonates with e-commerce leadership teams seeking to do more with existing resources.
